Asher's Lumberjack Nursery...

After I found out I was having a little boy I decided that I wanted a perfect little space for him... something that could grow with him and also something that I could pack up and redecorate in another house, since the military has us moving so frequently. With that being said we live on base housing so my decorating options were somewhat limited. I wish I could of gutted the entire room and started fresh, but I made due with what I had. (Times like these make me want to own my own house.)
-----
While I was home over the summer rummaging through my parents basement, I found a Paul Bunyan book that belonged to my mom when she was a little girl. I instantly got a great idea to create a "Lumberjack" inspired space for my little mister. After doing some research on the web, I found a perfect lumberjack nursery inspiration from Lay Baby Lay. The wheels started turning and eventually the nursery fell perfectly into place. I found some great thrifted items and used some sentimental things in the room like my husband's Boy Scouts uniform from when he was little. I also saved money by making the bedding which ended up being super easy to do! It cost me under $20 total to make. I found that decorating with items like a teething toy, shoes, and burp cloths gave the room a special little touch and was usable down the road. The cardboard bull (I refer to her as Babe the Ox) tied the room together and created a great 3D piece for the wall.
Here are a few pictures of Asher's nursery and a list of the items I used below.

  1. Love this! My little guy was totally matching this room with his lumberjack shirt today! I saw this on Lay Baby Lay, and had to come and investigate more! What store on Etsy did you find your crib mattress fabric? And how on earth did you do the yellow wall stripes? Paint?

  3. Carrie thank you! The fabric is called forest by khristian a howell. I purchased it from fabric bubb. And the plaid is just basic flannel. I even seen it at my local Walmart! The walls are painted stripes. I used sherwin Williams citrus yellow. I used a laser level to get the stripes even... That thing was amazing!! Thank you for stoping by!!

  25. I just found your blog from Apartment Therapy! I love your nursery! Husband and I recently found out we were having a boy and the first thought that came to my mind was that I could put a cute cardboard animal head in his room!! I searched ebay for your bull head but couldn't find it - could you link to the seller?

Hope you enjoy CA! I am an Army wife and love to read blogs from military spouses.
