VETERANS DAY

This years Veteran's Day is a little different from the past few because Jacob is officially a veteran.. He has always been a Veteran, but this Veteran's Day he is officially a completed decorated combat war vet... 8 years of enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, 1 deployment to Iraq, 2 deployments to Afghanistan, and 3 duty stations later... It seems like just yesterday that he broke the news to me that he was enlisting into the USMC.. The uneasy feelings I had over me at that time.. The US in the middle of invading Iraq so all I could think about was that... who knew 8 years later that it would have been one of the best decision he ever made. He has grown into such a responsible, caring individual and I'm so proud to call him my spouse. Military life hasn't been the easiest life, but what an amazing adventure it has been. We have learned so much about ourselves, grown together, and really seen a side of life that we would have never seen if he wouldn't of have enlisted. Im so thankful for the great places we were able to call home in the 8 years he served, all of the amazing friends we have made, and the overall experience it has been for us...

A HUGE thank you to all the Veteran's out there... Thank you for the scarifies you make/made on a daily basis not only for my family, but for yours as well. Thank you for being the less than 1%... Thank you for everything you do!!!!! This country would be nothing without you!

Happy Veterans Day!

XO!

Easter Recap...

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! We had some good friends come in from San Diego for the weekend to celebrate Easter with us. We visited the national park, filled up on ham and deviled eggs, and enjoyed each others company. Asher received a super rad Easter basket from the Easter bunny and looked so handsome in his Easter attire. In the mist of all the Easter celebrations, I stepped back today to remember the true meaning of this special holiday... My heart and belly is full from a fun filled weekend! I hope yours is as well!

Asher's First Zoo Trip...

We took Asher to the San Diego Zoo this weekend and it was so fun! This was his first real zoo trip and the boy was in awe. We picked a great day to make our zoo trip as well.. Few crowds, perfect weather, and lots of awesome animals showing their faces. The Flamingos and the Air Tram were by far his favorite and before we left we had an awesome drawing of him made... We always have family time, but this past weekend made me realize just how important these little trips as a family really are. We all had a blast and will definitely be making another trip. If you are in the San Diego area, I highly recommend the Zoo!

2014...

2013 was quite the year for our little family.. I finished school, Asher had his first birthday, we did a cross country move, and we learned a lot of things about ourselves and what we want in 2014... With that being said, here are a few goals I WILL achieve in 2014!

I will make 2014 count by...

- Blogging more.. And I truly mean that! 2013 was a fabulous year for my little blog and I am determined to make 2014 even more fab! This blog is my heart and I love sharing it with you.
- Slowing down and soaking up "the now"... I am always in a fizz, rushing around, worrying about the house not being clean, laundry, ect... This year I need to just relax... Those things can wait.
- Getting better at answering emails in a timely manner... that will start today!
- Getting out of my "mom uniform" and actually wear a nice pair of jeans at least twice a week... I will also take better care in dressing myself.. We all know how stylish Asher is ;)... but if you seen me most days you would might wonder what I was thinking ....
- Doing more family activities...
- Setting a fitness routine... even if it is something small.
- And lastly watching my caffeine intake... Sigh... As much as I love a cold Coke, I need to limit my weekly intake..

What are some of you New Years Resolutions/Goals?

Thankful...

We headed to San Diego this week to have Thanksgiving with some dear friends of ours... Long story short we were stationed with them in South Carolina and now they are stationed here in California.. Over just a few short years that we have known them they have become family to us. I am so thankful that we have good friends to share the holidays with... It makes living far away from home a little easier.
Thursday we cooked nearly all day and around 6pm we enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner! Asher was in heaven! And of course the mashed potatoes were his favorite! We finished the evening chatting and watching "Elf". I did a little black friday shopping via the internet on Thursday night... Many of my favorite handmade businesses were having some amazing sales! Friday we made a quick trip to Ikea and headed back home. Super fun little getaway and much needed time with friends!
Here's a few photos from this past week!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
