After sharing Asher's nursery with you guys, I got a few emails about how we set up our changing station, so today I decided to share the how to with you all... Since I spent quite a few hours at this changing station throughout the day, I made it as easy and handy to use as possible.
We purchased this dresser from Ikea... We decided it was best (and money friendly) to turn a dresser into a changing station and then when we are out of diapers return it to a normal dresser again :).
The Basics:
I have our changing station set up in a very basic, but yet handy to use way... I am right handed so it is easiest for me to have the changing essentials to the left of me and the diaper genie to the right of me... Makes for pretty efficient diaper changing!
I have the diapers stored in a drawer directly below me so when I need a diaper I just open the drawer and grab one... I keep lotion, wipes, baby powder, tissues, and hand sanitizer in the clear tray on the dresser... Those are the items I use the most so it's just easier for me to keep them there.
I didn't always have a clean changing station as well... Here is what it looked like before I decided to get organized... yikes!...
I found some basic storage baskets at Target and arranged them to fit in the drawer.. I wish I could have found drawer organizers but no luck... If you live close to an Ikea they have an excellent pack of drawer organizers for under $10.
In the drawer I stored items we frequently use in the front and extras in the back.
As most of you know we are in the mist of moving so this changing station was in our old house. The house was small so we only felt that we needed one changing station... However if I had a two story house I probably would have created a small one downstairs to prevent running up and down steps all day.
I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful! What are some changing station tips you have? I will be back this week with our 9 month favorite post!
